Times of India reported on 13th September that rain claimed 7 lives in North Gujarat. During this monsoon season state government remain in sleep mode instead of taking any effective steps to control the situation. Even after tall claims of Vibrant Gujarat by Mr. Narendra Modi then CM of Gujarat still Gujarat is awaiting proper and effective disaster management plan. Vadodara flood and broken down of drainage lines by just first normal rain fall in Ahmedabad city was the perfect examples of failure of state government and respective district authorities.
Vadodara Flood:
While Kashmir was facing serious flash floods and landslides problem at the same time Vadodara city of Gujarat from where Mr. Narendra Modi fought Lopksabha election was also facing sever condition of flood from Vishvamitri River. But the state governments have not done much to prevent such disasters or to make proper arrangements to provide relief to the people when these disasters occur. According to estimates, about 3 Lakh people have been affected in Vadodara alone! But the BJP ruled state government was busy in election campaign. The govt. made little arrangements to check it despite making big promises. The result is that more than 5 thousand of people had to flee from their homes, 1800 people took shelter in relief and rescue camps and property lose value of 5000 crore rupees! People of Vadodara suffered not only during flood but also they are affected by post flood epidemic. People were under threat from crocodiles moving in logged water in the streets of the city as newspapers reported. AAP’s Vadodara team was in short of resources, but they tried their level best to provide whatever little relief they can.

Ahmedabad municipal cooperation’s 400 crore pre monsoon plan failed when rain started in real sense. The plan was exposed by just 4 inch rain in city. Drainage lines in various areas of east Ahmedabad broken down and sewage water turned in to homes. BJP’s MP Paresh Raval was enjoying his film shooting while people of his constituency were suffering with water logging problems and outbreak of waterborne diseases.
